For some, just hearing the word "dodgeball" brings a flood of nightmares from yesteryear of bloody noses, bruises, and relentless screaming. But for others, it brings on excitement, challenge, a true love of the game, and...relentless screaming. That was the scene in The Phil Wednesday afternoon as the students and teachers squared off again in an epic dodgeball battle!
Five WINN teams battled it out for the chance to rip the title straight from the hands of the teachers. WINN classes earned battle spots by bringing in the most canned goods during the December food drive. MC Anderson's and LaRowe-Sailer's WINNs teamed up to play against Svihl's WINN. Anderson/LaRowe-Sailer had an early lead of outs but Svihl's class battled back to ultimately win the game. Branham's class took on Richardson's class and came out first. Svihl's class and Branham's class then competed for the chance to play against the teachers. Branham's class hung on until the very end, but ended up taking second to Svihl's class.
As excitement filled the gym and the noise level rose, the teachers lined up to take on Svihl's class. It was a fierce battle of slip-and-slide as the mats remained down from events earlier in the week, but that only made the game more fun. In the end, the teachers defended their title with a vengeance and took home another win. Will the teachers be able to hang on to their championship status in Quarter 4? Time will tell!
Prior to the dodgeball battles, recognition was given to students who have made the honor roll and have had excellent attendance for Quarter 3. Students who participated in winter sports and activities were also recognized at the assembly. Once the assembly concluded, students either joined an incentive room or a work room. In order to participate in an incentive, students had to earn their way through completed assignments, passing grades, and PRIDEful behavior. Students had the option to choose between a movie room and a karaoke room for their incentive. It was a great day for all and we are proud of the hard work our students do. Here's to a successful 4th Quarter!
