We have had many contests and service projects happening over the course of December at Williston Middle School.
Our SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) took part in the Forgotten Stocking Project in conjunction with American State Bank and The Salvation Army. Our building raised over $400 to help purchase Christmas presents for local teens. Ms. Severson's homeroom class raised the most money and have earned a hot cocoa and candy cane party. Ms. R. Anderson is the SADD advisor for WMS.
Our NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) members hosted a food drive for the community food pantry. Our building collected 578 cans/boxes of food to donate. The four WINN classes who collected the most cans have earned a spot to play in the end of quarter dodgeball game. The winner of the dodgeball game will get a hot cocoa and candy cane party in January. The four WINN classes that get to play dodgeball are Mrs. LaRowe-Sailer, Mrs. MC Anderson (Library), Mrs. Branham, and Mr. Compton. NJHS is advised by Ms. R. Anderson.
We held a building-wide door decorating contest among WINN classes. The theme for first floor was Gingerbread World, and Mrs. MC Anderson's WINN class took the win for first floor. The theme for second floor was Winter Wonderland, and Mrs. Pugliese's WINN class took the win for second floor. The theme for third floor was Santa's Workshop, and Mrs. LaRowe-Sailer's WINN class came away with the win for third floor. Each of those WINN classes have earned a pizza party! This competition was hosted by Student Council which is advised by Mrs. Pugliese.
